10/22/2006

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with Morning Worship. We talked about the effect of letting God write his law on our hearts and minds as promised in scripture. At Kids' Church we learned the story of Daniel and the Lion's Den.

After Evening Worship we shared a cake together in celebration of Joshua starting trade school on Monday. We were supposed to celebrate his high school graduation but there were some mix ups so we chose this time instead. He's studying to become an electrician.

The repair man came to the bakery early Wednesday morning to fix the donut machine so we were back to having the good donuts this week. They were still warm when Danny and Patricia carried them into the church. 109 kids participated in the SonRisers activities this week.

That evening the Adult Disciples continued their study of the Gospel of Mark. Gloria was not able to attend the class because she was accepting an award that night on behalf of Friends of Carroll Park, the group she's lead since its founding, for its work in improving the park.

I spent a lot of the day on Thursday reviewing materials as a part of the church's theology task force. I didn't think it would take long but got caught up in it for several hours.

That night the Men's Group began the discussion of a new book we're reading together. We've been busy doing things other than studying and praying together and it was good to come together to do this again.

We received the packets to begin our annual candle sale. I handed out some packets on Friday and will distribute the rest on Sunday.

Friday brought Pizza Church. We had more kids than usual this week, several of whom were new to Pizza Church.

On Saturday I participated in the Mission Center Disciples Retreat in New Windsor, Maryland. Jenn came up mid-day to be a part of the leadership team meeting that was a part of the event.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, Paul Davis will be joining us for Evening Worship. (He was the guest minister at the mission center retreat and will catch a Monday morning flight.) I have a meeting with our mission center president on Thursday.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:
