3/10/2007

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with Morning Worship. Gloria gave her first sermon during that service when she brought the communion message. Her text was John 15:1-17.

At Kids' Church we learned the story of Jesus walking on water. They had a corresponding foam craft project that ended up being more complicated than originally projected.

As I got to the church for Evening Worship, Tim and Susan were at the door with an exercise bike. They were donating it to our new exercise ministry. Over the course of the week we had three other pieces of equipment pledged to the cause.

On Monday evening the Village Center used the church for a meeting to mark the end of their Bayard Street home improvement grants program. Later the exercise group met at the church to organize themselves and do some exercises.

We had a strong wind storm early in the week. It took several tiles off of the old part of the roof. The roof was never installed correctly and many sections have already been replaced. Once this portion is repaired we should be close to having had the entire roof replaced over the last seven years.

Snow greeted us on Wednesday morning. Kids in the city had school but the surrounding counties didn't. Because of that a lot of kids stayed home anyway so we had a small (just under 50 kids) SonRisers that morning. I had a wedding in a couple's home that afternoon. That evening the Adult Disciples group continued with its course work in the ministry of the Elder. Woody installed the supports for the cross that evening as well.

We ordered our marketing materials for Easter this week. We were able to get glossy postcards again and we'll distribute them the first week in April.

On Thursday evening we had our priesthood meeting. We started out by discussing a teaching DVD we'd passed around since the last meeting. After that we finalized plans and made work assignments for the upcoming weeks. They're especially full with people going to World Conference at the end of March and Holy Week immediately afterward.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. Attendance has been more unpredictable than usual lately and last night was no exception. When straightening up afterward we discovered that the sink in the men's bathroom had been pulled out along with a chunk of the wall. That bathroom will be out of order until it's fixed.

We had a good Solid Rock Cafe on Saturday. We got to know some kids who are on the edge of the congregation a lot better as they opened up more while playing games.

Looking ahead to next week we'll have our regular schedule of activities. In addition we'll continue preparing for World Conference and Easter.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:
