2/3/2007

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with Morning Worship. In it we continued our series on stewardship focusing on our attitude and actions toward the 90% remaining after we return our 10% to God.

At Kids' Church we learned the story of Jesus' first miracle in which he turned water into wine. The kids painted clay pots to help them remember the story.

Before Evening Worship we set up for the church to be used by the Americorps volunteers. During the service we had a good session of sharing and prayer together.

On Tuesday Gloria and I arrived at the church to welcome the Americorps volunteers for their lunch time. Unfortunately, no one came. There were a couple different sites from which their various groups could choose for lunch and, apparently, though centrally located, none choose ours.

82 kids participated in Wednesday's SonRisers activities. That evening the Adult Disciples group reviewed and discussed issues in child safety and youth worker registration at the church. Many were surprised to learn that 156 registered sex offenders live in the two ZIP Codes that bisect Pigtown.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. We had really good discussions at the first and last sessions but no one came to the second session.

On Saturday Jenn and I went to Springfield, Virginia, to take part in the Mission Center Leadership Team meeting. Afterward, Tamara came down and she and Jenn met with others to begin organizing camp.
Looking ahead to next week we'll have our regular schedule of activities. In addition, we have our Super Bowl party on Sunday evening. The Village Center will be using the church on Monday evening in celebration of the completion of a community improvement project. On Wednesday we'll be starting a Temple School course during Adult Disciples in preparation for Jenn's ordination. Next Saturday is our monthly Solid Rock Cafe.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

the Piper family
the Burton family
the Boozer family
the Bookhultz family
the Davis family
the Connor family
the Ghaffar family
the Barcado family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
