3/5/2006

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

The topic for this last week of the "40 Days of Purpose" campaign was "Worship." During Morning Worship we considered ways we could worship God better when we're together in community. At Kids' Church we learned what worship is about. Both services had people that were there for the first time and some people we hadn't seen in several months.

Our prayer focus for Evening Worship was the Peacemobile project. We spent the beginning portion of our prayer time together with each person present offering prayer for the many different facets of this project.

On Monday Tamara hung around the whole morning waiting on the fire alarm installation. They were here for a while but decided we needed some different equipment that they'd need to order. We're not sure when they'll be back to continue the installation. We started this process in September.

I touched base with the principals of the local elementary school and the Catholic school a couple of times this week to make sure that everything was ready for the Peacemobile. They were looking forward to their participation with excitement and thankfulness.

We had 78 kids participate in SonRisers this week. That evening the Adult Disciples group explored ways to deepen our personal worship time. Since it was Ash Wednesday, several in the group decided to incorporate some of the ideas during Lent.

I got in touch with the power company this week about their seeming inability to read our meter even though it is outdoors and easily accessible. They decided that they needed to come out next week to install a radio controlled reader so they wouldn't have to get out of the truck to read the meter. They'll be by next Tuesday to do this.

On Friday I met with the builder. There were a couple of things we needed them to check on as follow-up to the construction. They will be out next week, too, to fix a couple of minor things.

That night brought Pizza Church. At the start of the senior high session, one of the boys brought some papers up for me to look at. When I read them after the lesson I saw that he'd been arrested for a long list of serious charges of drug dealing. He, Tamara, and I talked together. He was genuinely scared of the system and what was going to happen to him. He'd never opened up like that with any of us before and, though frustrated with the circumstances, glad that he would trust us with this.

The Peacemobile arrived in town at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Violet, Josh, Jenn, and Bryce came over to the church to help unload the 40 interactive displays from the trailer. We'll set things up after Morning Worship.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, Sunday morning will bring our "40 Days of Community" campaign to a close. We'll have a preview of the Peacemobile Sunday evening then be open for the schools on Monday through Thursday. We'll be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the community as well. We'll tear everything down and pack it up on Friday. Next Saturday night is our monthly Solid Rock Cafe.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:
