10/28/2007

It's been busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with our three services and a football game. Matthew 18:21-28 was the scripture focus for the message during Morning Worship. After learning the story of David and Goliath, the kids at Kids' Church had more fun playing "Pin the Rock on Goliath" than we've seen them have in a long time. Evening Worship had a small group gather for it as did the Ravens game.

Between the services our friends from the Frederick Congregation stopped by. They had borrowed our font for a baptism a couple of weeks ago and were able to return it Sunday afternoon.

On Tuesday evening we had our monthly priesthood meeting. We spent about 40 minutes reviewing a video we'd seen, updating our calendar, and covering miscellaneous happenings in the congregation. After that we spent about 80 minutes with David Anderson, our Mission Center President, reviewing a situation in the mission center and its potential impact on the community.

111 kids participated in Wednesday's SonRisers activities. That's the highest number so far this year. That night the Adult Disciples group continued its study of 1 Timothy.

Over the last couple of weeks I've gotten behind on the paperwork of the congregation. I spent a lot of time this week catching up on attendance, preparing orders for Advent, reviewing some of our marketing materials, and the like. I still haven't gotten around to balancing the checkbook but hope to next week.

Pouring Rain accompanied Pizza Church on Friday. With that we had very small groups throughout the evening.

We had beautiful weather on Saturday so people out enjoying the day. I was able to visit with many people throughout the afternoon and hand out seed cards inviting people to participate in church activities.

That evening we had one of our best Sundae Church sessions ever. The kids that gathered relaxed and had good clean fun together talking and laughing and goofing around. It was a good break from the stresses that a lot of them face each day.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. The exception to that will be on Wednesday when we've cancelled our Adult Disciples time so that trick-or-treaters can visit the church for candy. In addition, Tamara and Danny will be representing our congregation at a mission center meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the Dundalk congregation. I'll also be getting ready for some upcoming travels for the North Atlantic Mission Field meetings.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

the Handy family
the Pelsinski family
the Alexander family
the Moore family
the Quick family
the Johnson family
the Bryant family
the Latham family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
