2/25/2007

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with a call from Danny. He had the same flu bug that I had last week so he wouldn't be at church. Bryce and I hurriedly got ready and got over to the church to clean and set up. Gary arrived a few minutes later and got the rest of the sidewalk cleared of snow and ice.

We continued our series on valuing people during Morning Worship. A family who had just moved to the neighborhood joined us for worship and seemed quite interested in possibly making this their home congregation.

After the service Gloria and I met together. She's preparing the communion message for March so we spent some time on some exercises to help her organize her thoughts on the topic.

At Kids' Church we learned that Jesus chose 12 apostles. We made a rather complex craft that took the kids quite some time to complete.

During Evening Worship we celebrated Theresa's 78th birthday (which was Monday). She's the oldest member of our congregation.

I got a call on Monday that a good friend in Michigan had died. I flew up on Tuesday then drove with my parents from Detroit to Alpena for the services on Wednesday. I got home Thursday evening. With having to leave right away I didn't get quite all the I's dotted and T's crossed so there were a few bumps in the programming while I was out but otherwise things went fine.

Tamara and Jenn were at the youth ski retreat this weekend so Dave came up for Pizza Church on Friday. We had really small groups at all three sessions so we were able to visit with each of the kids individually.

Saturday evening brought Sundae Church. The kids started talking about all the things they "got away with" at camp. As the conversation progressed, though, they moved into what camp meant to them and what it had done in their lives.

Looking ahead to next week we'll have our regular schedule of activities. In addition, I'll be attending a pastors' gathering next Saturday in Virginia. The mission center's young adult group will be meeting at the church next Saturday evening.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:

Donald
Mark
Brandi
Chester
Pat
Vickie
Destiny
Daquan

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
