8/26/2007

It's been busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out with a smaller-than-usual group at Morning Worship. Tamara and Jenn were at a young adult retreat and several other people's work schedules had them working that morning. During the service we talked about the practicality of incarnational love.

We had a good mix of participants at Kids' Church. Most of our regular crew was there plus there were a couple kids who came back from Bible School and a few kids who started attending semi-regularly over the summer. We reviewed the lessons from Bible School and finished up some corresponding craft projects.

During Evening Worship we had our usual time for testimonies and prayers. Some people shared about their Bible School experiences this year.

Throughout the week we did a lot of catch-up work. There was a lot of shopping, errands, and paperwork to restock depleted supplies, pay bills, clean, and bringing paperwork current. Between last week's Bible School and the vacation prior to it we had quite a backlog of things to get done. We also sent out a follow-up mailing to the parents of the kids who participated in Bible School

Wednesday evening's Adult Disciples group assembled care packages for the teachers in our two neighborhood schools. Bryce, Onalee, and I delivered them on Thursday.

On our way to the schools on Thursday Charles stopped us for a quick visit. He's been trying to coordinate a time with his sister so she could be present for his baptism. They were both available this Sunday evening so we'll celebrate it then.

Men's group resumed its regular meetings on Thursday night. We finished the book we'd been reading together and caught up with what's been happening in each other's lives over the past couple of months.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. Afterward we took two kids who have come to church 20+ times in the past 8 weeks to Burger King for milkshakes.

Just before Saturday evening's Sundae Church we had a thunderstorm blow through. Because of it we let the kids in early while Danny and I set up the font for Sunday's baptism.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we'll be distributing school supplies during Kids' Church. Charles is planning to be baptized during Evening Worship. SonRisers will resume on Wednesday morning.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:
