9/17/2006

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with Morning Worship. We had a great mix of people there ----- most of our regular attendees, some visitors from out of town, some folks we hadn't seen in a long time, and some first-time visitors. At Kids' Church we continued our "Draw the Bible" series. We had a larger group than usual at Evening Worship.

That evening we started painting the floor. The young adult group plus a few others were able to prime then get the first coat of paint on half of the floor. We had Chinese food delivered and ate it together while the primer dried.

While the women's group met in the front room on Monday, Danny and I rearranged the furniture in the back. We set up for SonRisers and Narcotics Anonymous on the half of the floor that was painted then cleared the rest of the floor in preparation for painting.

We had over 90 kids come to SonRisers on Wednesday morning. That evening the Adult Disciples group watched the movie The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe together. Next week we'll begin our study of the Gospel of Mark.

I spent a few hours at the church on Thursday morning priming the part of the floor that still needed it. I was able to finish all but the corner of the building where we parked all the extra-heavy items that we didn't want to be moving around much. Once the rest of the building is done we'll go back and paint that corner.

That evening the men's group put the first coat of paint on the area I'd primed that morning and started the second coat of paint on that which was done on Sunday.

Early Friday morning I took Tamara and Jenn to the airport. They were attending a youth ministry conference in Missouri over the weekend. While there they were also hoping to meet up with Linda Booth and Bob Kyser.

Later that morning I spent about an hour at the church doing a little more painting. I wanted to get a second coat of paint on the areas where the heavy items would need to go so that we could move them back in preparation for Sunday.

Vonceil, Patricia, and Gloria headed to Deer Park Campground in Pennsylvania on Friday for the women's retreat. They are scheduled to return sometime Sunday afternoon.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. Don and his friend Nick were in town and helped staff. This was especially helpful with Tamara and Jenn out of town.

On Saturday evening we started putting the church back together. We got the sound system reconnected, the chairs set back in their standard formation, and a few things put away. We still have quite a bit of work to get this painting project finished but we are much further along than we were a week ago.
Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we will be looking forward to hearing testimonies from those who went to women's retreat and those who were at the youth training. We'll also be trying to finish up the painting project.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:
