6/2/2007

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with our three services. During Morning Worship Barb shared several testimonies as a part of the message. She took the lead at Kids' Church teaching a lesson on Pentecost. After Evening Worship we celebrated graduation from college programs by having a cake together.

I took Barb to the airport on Monday morning so she could catch her flight back to Ottawa. That evening Danny and I installed a banner on the Glyndon Avenue side of the church.

Around 80 kids participated in Wednesday's SonRisers activities. Several people were out of town so Patricia and I were the staff for most of this activity. Violet was able to come in time for the rush at the end.

Later that morning the roofers arrived to fix the shingles on the old part of the building. That night the Adult Disciples group began their "Summer of Love" Biblical study.

We received notes from people this week saying that they were sending donations for sending kids to camp. If all of them come through we should be about covered for the 18 kids who will be attending.

I spent quite a bit of time this week working on paperwork and planning. The calendar for June - August has something "extra" beyond the regularly scheduled activities nearly every day. Plotting things out and serious advanced planning is the only way to make sure things get done.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. The first group had a hard time settling down and the third group was unusually small. We did, though, have one kid ask about baptism and hopes to have it happen at camp.

While Vonceil was working with Bryce and Onalee at the monthly Kids' Workshop at Home Depot on Saturday, I visited with the director for a few minutes. In the process I let her know that if she had some leftover kits she needed to get rid of we could use them at the church. She immediately jumped up and gave me a box full that were left over from last month and indicated that there might be more in the months to come.

On Saturday afternoon I found some better deals on line for our van rentals for camp. About 10 minutes on the internet saved us around $50.

Looking ahead to next week we'll have our regular schedule of activities. In addition, Rachael, our World Service Corps volunteer, is scheduled to arrive on Monday. We have our monthly priesthood meeting scheduled form Wednesday evening. We'll begin distributing our camp supplies checklist to the kids who are registered for camp. Guests will be arriving next weekend in anticipation of Tamara and Jenn's ordinations on June 10. We'll also need to get all our paperwork in to the state to maintain our tax-exempt status.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:

Johnathan
