It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.
It started out Sunday with our three services. We began a series on the book of Romans during Morning Worship. At Kids' Church we learned about being salt and light. We continued our review of the letters to the churches in the book of Revelation during Evening Worship. After that service we had a potluck dinner.
We started our campaign to raise money for chairs in the new building. So far we've gotten pledges for about 15 chairs out of the 100 we need.
I got word this week that Donald and Robert had each received care packages from here. The Women's CORE group had assembled them and put them in the mail the week before.
109 kids participated in this Wednesday's SonRisers activities. That evening the Adult Disciples group began their study of the Gospel of Luke.
The builders continued with working on the details of the building. The electrician did the bulk of the work this week running wires and installing the main light fixtures. The builders discovered some water damage in the floor of the old building right where the new building connects to it. They gave us a fair price and then proceeded to tear out floorboards and replace them.
When I went over to the building to make sure it had been secured after the workers left on Thursday I discovered that the rear door was not locked. I don't yet have a key to the new doors so I left a message for the builder then secured it shut with one of our bike locks. The next morning we learned that they'd been having trouble with the locking mechanism and have a subcontractor coming out at the beginning of the week to fix it.
We had a good crowd of kids at each Pizza Church session on Friday night. The first two groups read from Mark 4 while the third group continued their study of the Gospel of Matthew.
Bill Greet came down from Pennsylvania on Saturday to help fix our phone lines. Some new lines had to be run to connect the old lines with the new outdoor connection. In the process he discovered problems in the existing wiring and fixed them as well.
That night Jenn and I took Bryce to Friendly's for ice cream. He had earned a trip there for coming to church 40+ times since July.
Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition a couple of us are going to the Mission Center Leadership Retreat next Saturday. We'll also be finishing up this year's candle sale.
