6/12/2005

It's been a busy couple of weeks at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started on Sunday, May 29, with our three services. During Morning Worship we looked
at answering the question "What do I do when my life seems out of control?"
Dominic was baptized during Kids' Church that Sunday. While we were singing our songs at
Evening Worship, I stepped outside to visit with a man who was reading over our sign. I
invited him in, but he said he would be uncomfortable being there since he wasn't dressed
up. Once I noted that I was wearing shorts and a polo shirt and that I was the speaker
he smiled, said, "All right then!" and came in and joined us.

On Monday evening I left for World Conference in Independence, Missouri. I took a class
for a couple of days prior to the conference. Jenn flew out on Thursday and we spend
that evening through Sunday morning in business session and worship services. While we
were gone, everyone pitched in to make sure that the scheduled act ivies proceeded
smoothly.

While I was out there the plane tickets for non-stop flights for International Youth
Forum and Spectacular went on sale. I was able to reserve sharply discounted seats for
the kids who are going and and breath a sigh of relief over our budget.

For the last couple of weeks the Adult Disciples group has been studying the Psalms.
This week the discussion broke into a rather heated debate about stem cell research
ethics. It was a great opportunity to talk about letting the fullness of the gospel
shape our understanding and being ok with being uncomfortable with our own understanding.

On Thursday night we had our monthly priesthood meeting. We spent a good portion of the
time going over some of the important things one must consider when presiding over a
worship service.

We did quite a bit of work on the building project this week. The surveyors came and
surveyed the property and the water company came out and marked where their pipes are
buried. We hammered out the contract with Baltimore Gas and Electric and are ready for
the next step. The contractor is hoping to pour footings sometime next week.

Tamara taught all three sessions of Pizza Church the last two weeks. She's got one more
week in the series of discussions she's leading.

On Saturday we had our monthly Sold Rock Cafe. We had a rather small group come but they
seemed to really relax and have an extra good time playing cards and video games
together.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we'll
have our last SonRisers of the school year this Wednesday morning. We'll also be trying
to finish up getting our materials together for camp. Of course, we'll all be watching
the back lot to see if construction equipment arrives and work begins.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned as well as continued progress on our
building project, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your prayers:

Debbie
Paul
Kim
Tavon
Jerry
Michael
Jimmy
Theresa

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
