11/8/2009

It’s been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with some last minute adjustments for Morning Worship. Those who normally take care of setting up communion were sick so Vonceil came over to the church early to prepare the emblems. While I was getting ready we discovered that the wireless microphone I use picked up lots of sounds but not my voice.

Several other people were sick and some of our teens were in Virginia at Mission Center Conference so we had a very small group of people gather for Morning Worship. We continued with our series on John the Baptist and celebrated the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together.

At Kids’ Church we learned how God provided manna for the Israelites in the desert. Since manna means “What is it?” we had a tasting party of foods to see if the kids could guess what they were eating. Grits, granola, oatmeal, cream of wheat, some cereals, and other such items were on the menu.

After Kids’ Church I caught a flight out of town. I had a personal retreat for a few days.

101 kids participated in Wednesday’s SonRisers activities. Afterward, Tamara stayed to get the nursing student group into the building. Patricia took care of opening for the NA group and Gloria took the lead in the Mid-Week service.

I got back in town late Thursday night so first thing Friday morning I went to the church to work on the microphone problem. It worked fine without any repair. Throughout the day we caught up from having been gone for a couple of days.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. We were short on staff that night so I ran thing solo. The first two groups learned about the story of Joshua and Caleb while the third group continued their study of the Gospel of Matthew.

Some of you may recall that a few weeks ago there was a major house fire next door to one of our kid’s homes, which resulted in his home being condemned. We learned this weekend that his family has found a new place to live and it’s just a few doors down from their old house.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we have a wedding on Saturday and I’ll be meeting with the couple on Wednesday morning. We’ll also be finalizing our Advent activities and planning the Kids’ Church curriculum for January through June. Next Saturday evening is our monthly Solid Rock Café.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

The Evans Family
The Hebron Family
The Player Family
The Thompson Family
The Madison Family
The Rhue Family
The Brown Family
The Wright Family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
