It's been a busy couple of weeks at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.
There's too much to write and too little time this week. Here are some highlights:
-Easter Sunday had good to overflowing crowds all day.
-Our roof sprung a leak. It is now fixed but we have some stains on the ceiling.
-After a long time off, Men's group met at Bob Evans for food and fellowship.
-The social worker from the neighborhood's middle school stopped by SonRisers. He's
putting together a community resource pack and knew of us through the kids and the web
site. He was able to get more information from us and we were able to send some of our
extra donuts back to the school with him for the staff to enjoy.
-Tickets to our 10th Anniversary Banquet (April 16) are selling quite briskly with fewer
than 20 remaining. As the $10 cost was a bit high for some of our kids, one person
volunteered to buy tickets for all the high school kids who want to come.
-We've installed a new banner out front marking our 10 years in Pigtown.
-We had our regular priesthood meeting on Thursday and an emergency priesthood meeting to
deal with a pressing issue a week ago Saturday.
-I got the letter from the seminary saying that I passed my comprehensive exams so I
should graduate in May.
-We had a small group at Solid Rock Cafe, which was OK since Tamara's car was hit as she
tried to get here from work. She's OK but the car will need some TLC.
-We hung a map in the church and marked the different ministries around the globe where
we've sent some form of support these last 10 years. After one kid asked us what it was
about, we heard him go off and tell his friend, "Hey yo! It's OUR fault good things
are happening in the world."
Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we'll
be making the final preparations for our 10th Anniversary celebrations next weekend.
Throughout the week we'll be handing out fliers inviting the people of the neighborhood
to our open house which is on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Our banquet is on
Saturday night from 6:00 - 8:00. Several women in the congregation will be baking cakes
this week as both the open house and the youth activities (each of the three Pizza Church
sessions and Kids' Church) will have anniversary cakes. Jenn and Tamara are designing
and preparing decorations for the banquet. Peter and Kris Judd will fly in on Friday to
celebrate with us.
