5/3/2009

It’s been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with Morning Worship. As people were gathering we learned that Violet’s mom had been hospitalized and that Shirley’s sister had died. During the service we had a baby blessing. Then, Sarah brought the message. After the service we had two baptism requests and had a long visit with a couple of our young adults.

During Kids’ Church the kids decorated kites. The kites aren’t sturdy enough to fly so we decided to decorate with them.

Those who gathered for Evening Worship wanted to sing some different songs than were originally planned so we rearranged a few things. We had quite a few prayer requests and testimonies.

Since we were continuing to have troubles with out sound system I went out shopping on Monday to see how much it would cost to get things back in order. It would cost nearly $1000 to do get the broken items replaced so we’ll need to try to make due for a while.

75 kids participated in Wednesday’s SonRisers activities. Afterward, the alarm company came out to make additional repairs.

That night between the NA meeting and Adult Disciples, our neighbor Bob came by. He helped adjust a few things in the sound system to make it work a little better for the time being. It still needs repairs but isn’t quite as offensive as it was on Sunday.

We had just a couple of people at Adult Disciples. We reviewed the book of 2 Corinthians. Barbara came in and joined us for prayer time afterward.

Throughout the week we worked on raising funds to send kids to Spectacular and IYF this summer. We also worked on getting camp forms in before Friday to get the “early bird discount” on as many registrations as possible. We were able to get 11 forms in by the deadline, the savings from which will help us send additional kids to camp.

Men’s Group went out to dinner together on Thursday evening. We hadn’t done this for quite some time and it was good to have the time together for fellowship and good food.

I got a call from Kaleema this week. She wanted to see if she could reserve the building for the community development project the kids at Diggs-Johnson Middle School are working on. We were able to schedule the group for a week from Wednesday.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. We actually had a couple of parents come by during that time which is highly unusual. One, whose daughter has only a few credits, came to see how much it would cost to send her daughter to camp. The other, whose daughter had already been invited to camp, stopped in to sign the forms.

On Saturday morning, Jenn and I headed out to Mission Center Conference. This time it was in Washington, DC.

Looking ahead to next week we have our regular schedule of activities. In place of Evening Worship we have the choir concert with the Arundel Singers. Monday night is my final seminary class for the semester. We’ll also be working throughout the week on getting camp registrations finalized.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

The Wagner Family

The Baty Family

The Harrell Family

The Barton Family

The Davis Family

The Rice Family

The Meyer Family

The Boycheck Family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
