9/27/2009

It’s been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with a crowd that was bigger than usual for Morning Worship. This was a surprise since a half-dozen women from the congregation were in Pennsylvania at the Women’s Retreat. During the service we continued with our series call “If You.” Two middle school girls sang a song together as a part of the service.

At Kids’ Church we learned the story of Noah. They then did a sticker page that corresponded with the lesson.

Just as the kids were leaving, the van pulled up with all the women who had been at the retreat. They all had had a good time and were glad they had gone.

As expected, we had a larger group at Evening Worship because it was Jenn’s last service here in Pigtown. Those who went to the retreat reported on their weekend. We then took time to share stories with Jenn and thank her for her years of service here. Following a blessing for her we had a time of fellowship and some cake.

Jenn and her family loaded up their van and car on Monday morning then headed to Michigan. I was a little later than I had planned in getting over to her house to say good-bye. This was because I was having some work done on my house and while the contractors were inside someone broke into their truck and stole their tools. I had to wait the 45+ minutes for the police to arrive to give the report.

84 kids participated in Wednesday’s SonRisers activities. Later that day the nursing students began visiting in people’s homes. That night we gathered for a few minutes of peace during our Mid-Week Service.

I got a call from Tom on Thursday. He and I scheduled a time (December 6 at 6:00 p.m.) for the Arundel Singers Christmas Concert at the church.

We spent a lot of time this week in preparing marketing for upcoming events. We updated the web page and printed fliers & postcards. We also added pictures from Jenn’s good-bye party to the church’s Facebook page.

Friday night brought Pizza Church. We had good groups throughout the evening. Though some kid came too late for their session others brought friends to the church for the first time.

Saturday night we held our monthly Sundae Church. The senior high students who came for ice cream ended up staying after for over an hour to help clean the church and set up for Sunday morning.

Looking ahead to next week we have our regular schedule of activities. In addition, we’ll be working on our preparation and marketing for the Homecoming service.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

The Dutton Family
The Fitzpatrick Family
The Harrison Family
The Lee-Rose Family
The Betts Family
The Robinson Family
The Fleming Family
The Durant Family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
