It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.
It started out Sunday with our three services. Ron Gillilan brought our communion
message during Morning Worship. At Kids' Church we learned about what countries the
Community of Christ has a presence then colored a world map showing these countries.
Jenn lead the devotions at Evening Worship.
Throughout the day we received a special offering for tsunami victims. By the end of the
third service we had collected $426.50 in relief monies.
Early this week Billie Jo overdosed on drugs. She's the daughter of Earl, the man who
died last weekend. She came through it and was able to be at the memorial service later
in the week.
Nearly 70 kids came to SonRisers on Wednesday morning. That evening at Adult Disciples
we discussed the book of Leviticus.
We received a FAX from the architect mid-week. In it were some of the initial redrawings
of the addition. He and the contractor are working to beat a February 17 expiration on
our city building permits.
At noon on Friday about 30 people gathered at the church for a memorial service for Earl.
Gloria and I shared in the readings and Ron offered the invocation.
On Friday afternoon Heidi and Erin drove three kids from the congregation to the mission
center youth ski retreat. They will return sometime Sunday afternoon.
Friday night brought Pizza Church. The oldest and youngest groups were both attentive
and cooperative. The middle group was more challenging.
By the end of the week we had finalized some of our plans for our upcoming 10th
anniversary celebration. As a part of this we'll be having a banquet on the evening of
Saturday, April 17. We signed contracts and made deposits this week with the place we're
renting and with the caterer.
Danny and I drove to Springfield, Virginia, Saturday morning for the Mission Center
Leadership Team meeting. That evening was our monthly Solid Rock Cafe.
Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition we'll be
racing the clock in trying to get all the paperwork into the city before our permits
expire. Shawna will lead the devotions at Evening Worship on Sunday.
Along with the individuals and activities mentioned and the continued progress on our
building project, please keep the following people in the forefront of your prayers:
