2/26/2005

It's been a busy couple of weeks at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday, February 13, with Morning Worship. Between that service and Kids'
Church we had a woman stop by to see if she could have her baby blessed next Sunday
morning so we set up plans for that. During Kids' Church we talked about the sacraments
then made Last Supper refrigerator magnets. Shawna lead the devotions at Evening
Worship.

We learned this week from our contractor that our city building permits were successfully
renewed. With that barrier out of the way we can move forward with bids and
subcontractors.

Over 70 kids participated in SonRisers on Wednesday morning. That evening someone
dropped off cupcakes for us to eat at Adult Disciples while we discussed the first half
of the book of Numbers. There were plenty left over so the girls at Thursday night's
CORE group had some, too.

We had an unusual start for Pizza Church on Friday. When the first three boys came in
they were apparently discussing something about the wise men's travels to see Jesus.
They sat down and started reading the Bible out loud together from that point through the
baptism of Jesus.

Last Sunday we had two baby blessings during Morning Worship. Both of the mothers were
women who had been active in the church when they were children but had not participated
much in the last several years. It was great to see them back and to know that they
still had that connection with the congregation. After the service we had five
administrations. During Kids' Church we talked about giftedness. Vonceil lead the
devotions during Evening Worship.

During the day on Sunday two of our kids crossed over 120 credits. That means they've
each come to activities at the church at least 120 times since the first week of July.

After the service our neighbor Walter stopped by. He had a bag full of new Beanie Babies
that he thought we could use as prizes for the kids that he dropped off for us.

88 kids participated in this Wednesday's SonRisers activities. That evening the Adult
Disciples group discussed the second half of the book of Numbers.

Mid-week the city dug a large hole in the street near the front of the church. With the
snow at the end of the week they quit working on is so we have a large open pit about the
size and depth of a swimming pool just outside our front door. That with the fact that
our streetlights have been out for nearly a month it makes me a little nervous with all
the kids running in and out of the church after dark.

The senior high Pizza Church group finished its study of the Gospel of John on Friday
night. Tamara taught the two younger groups.

People began moving into the houses in the Camden Crossing area of our neighborhood this
week. Bryce and I took fliers around to invite the newcomers to church.

We had the best Sundae Church we've had in a long time this Saturday. The group visited
and seemed to really enjoy their time together.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, Edith
Gallaher, our mission center's spiritual formation specialist, will be here Sunday
morning to bring the message. Tamara and Jenn are going to Los Angeles to a Purpose
Driven Youth Ministries conference at Saddleback Church for most of the week. Don will
be down for a visit next weekend. During the week this week I'll be taking my
comprehensive exams at St. Mary's Seminary.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned as well as the continued progress on
our building project, please keep the following individuals in the forefront of your
