3/5/2005

It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.

It started out Sunday with our three services. Edith Gallaher brought the message during
Morning Worship. At Kids' Church we learned about stewardship. Jenn lead the devotions
at Evening Worship.

Shortly after Evening Worship Theresa came back into the church. She was upset because
she had fallen near the construction work going on in the street and had lost her glasses
in the process. With no street light on she was afraid they were gone for good. Danny
and I went out with flashlights and after several minutes of searching found them inside
a steel beam that was laying on the sidewalk.

A snowstorm came through town on Monday. Many events were canceled or postponed across
the area, including our women's group and my comprehensive exams. Fortunately, Tamara
and Jenn's flight to California for their youth ministries conference took off relatively
close to its scheduled time that evening.

Over 70 kids participated in SonRisers on Wednesday morning. Later that morning I met
with the contractors. They needed to check out some thing on the property and ask me
several questions. While we were talking we learned that some of the subcontractors who
had done the estimated bids backed out of the process before the final bidding. This was
due to the location of the project and their fear of theft and vandalism. Getting a
final construction figure is taking longer than anticipated. We're not sure what this
will do to the costs.

With Tamara and Jenn in California we had a smaller group at Adult Disciples on Wednesday
night. We studied the first half of the book of Deuteronomy together.

I was able to take my comprehensive exams at St. Mary's Seminary and University on
Thursday and Friday afternoon this week. I'll know the results in a couple of weeks.

Don arrived in town Friday evening just before Pizza Church. The first two groups were
unusually small and were lead by Mike. The senior high group has an unusually high
attendance. Don told the kids about the church's World Service Corps during that
session.

On Saturday Don and I took Joshua out to Friendly's for ice cream. He had earned the
trip by attending church over 40 times since July.

Once I send out this email I'll be heading out to the airport to get Jenn and Tamara.
I'm quite anxious to hear how everything went and what they learned.

Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. Don will be bringing
the communion message during Morning Worship and Gloria will lead devotions during
Evening Worship. We have our monthly priesthood meeting this Thursday evening and I'm
scheduled for jury duty on Friday. Saturday is our monthly Solid Rock Cafe.

Along with the individuals and activities mentioned as well as continued progress on our
building project, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:

the Bookhultz family
the Livingston family
the Smallwood family
the Roy family
the Calhoun family
the Bunner family
the Muller family
the Ceo family

Thank you for your continued prayer support.
