It's been a busy week at the Power House in Baltimore, Maryland.
It started out Sunday with our three services. At Morning Worship we addressed the heavy
burdens that many are carrying right now and the posture we need to have before God
during this stressful time. For the craft at Kids' Church the kids made fish out of
construction paper then hung them on a large net. This was to help us remember the story
of Peter and leading the fishing expedition as recorded in the last chapter of the Gospel
of John. We had a brief business meeting as a part of Evening Worship in which we
formally approved the amended plans for the building construction.
102 kids participated in this Wednesday's SonRisers activities. It was the first time
we've broken the 100 mark since fall. That night the Adult Disciples group studied 2
Chronicles.
We had our monthly priesthood meeting on Thursday. The biggest portion of our meeting
was spent on reviewing the calendar for June, July, and August. Fitting in Camp,
reunion, International Youth Festival, Spectacular, Bible School, and trips to amusement
parks and baseball games around work schedules and family vacations was especially
challenging this year since the public schools decided to open a week earlier than usual.
Though we still have a few staffing details to work out, we managed to wedge things into
the time given and look forward to a pleasant exhaustion come September.
Friday night brought Pizza Church. The first group was larger than usual and the second
group was the largest its been in a very long time. By the end of the second session we
had already had more kids than we usually have in an evening and we were running low on
pizza. The senior high group has been the biggest group most Friday nights this school
year. But this Friday no one came.
Looking ahead to next week we have our full schedule of activities. In addition, we hope
to start distributing forms and collecting signatures for camp. I have my commencement
exercises at St. Mary's Seminary on Thursday evening. We'll also have our monthly Solid
Rock Café next Saturday evening.
Along with the activities and individuals mentioned as well as continued progress on our
building project, please keep the following families in the forefront of your prayers:
the Quick family
the Moore family
the Mandell family
the Pestridge family
the Smead family
the Conley family
the Teller family
the Bookhultz family
Thank you for your continued prayer support.
